Head Chef

Ashley Binder is Head Chef at Middlethorpe Hall, having joined Middlethorpe in 2008 as Chef de Partie before working his way up to Sous Chef.

Ashley has excelled at Middlethorpe, being part of the award winning team who won the 'Restaurant of the Year' both in 2015 and 2013 at the Visit York Awards.

On Ashley's appointment as Head Chef, he said "I am delighted at the opportunity and look forward to working with the team, to uphold the long established reputation for traditional excellence for food at Middlethorpe Hall.  My long experience with the company means that I believe I understand our guests' expectations and requirements, and my Yorkshire roots will allow me to increase even further our relationship with the fantastic local farmers, fishmongers and butchers.  I am also very keen to work closely with the garden team here, to make more use of the fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables from the Potager."

Ashley is assisted in his team by talented Pastry Chef Paul Harrison, and between them they have a combined 37 years' experience in Middlethorpe's kitchen, and have twice led the team to win 'Restaurant of the Year' in the Visit York awards, most recently in 2015.
